Members' Gallery: Brian Iddon LRPS

The late Helen James ARPS and Gilbert Hooper FRPS, past President of the Bromoil Circle, who visited my camera club in Menai Bridge, Anglesey, to do a demonstration, started my interest in the Bromoil Process. That was back in 1985 when my main interest in photography was monochrome printing.

The demonstration highlighted to me the beauty of a Bromoil image, full of quality and detail and very individualistic. Having an interest in the old photographic processes and early photography in general, I was immediately taken by the Bromoil Process.

The expert teaching of both Helen James and Gilbert Hooper taught me the technical control of how to produce a Bromoil image. I feel very privileged to have been inspired and tutored by these two outstanding masters of the Art of Bromoil.

I still work in the darkroom doing monochrome printing, bromoiling, and some alt. processes and experimenting with various chemicals and papers.
